This blog post features a new version of the Scented Garden design, this time painted on a Victorian-style pedestal lavatory. The sink is the Barclay Products Vicki pedestal, and the design is painted on by me and then kiln-fired for lasting beauty. The Scented Garden design features tons of flowers, a hummingbird, a ladybug and a few butterflies too. The flowers include tulips, roses, poppies, violets, daisies, iris, chrysanthemums, cornflowers, morning glory and more! It’s got a broad range of beautiful bright colors and looks great in a traditional or modern bathroom or powder room. It’s one of our most popular designs, and so far I’ve made murals, vases, vessel sinks, drop-in sinks, toilets, wastebaskets, soap dispensers, and of course, more. The design is made from ceramic decals, not actually hand-painted, but they are the same stuff that is used on mugs and plates and the design won’t wear our or fade away. They are applied to the ware (the sink) and then fired to about 1500 degrees to permanently fuse the decoration on the fixture. The description on the website says…

You can get a good idea of all the flowers on the sink and pedestal leg, with lots of vibrant colors. I can always add extra butterflies and a few bugs if you like them. I especially like to add the butterflies, they are a good space filler!!
Scented Garden Flowers & Hummingbird Small Painted Pedestal Lavatory
This is the other version of the design on a smaller pedestal. It’s more of a take off of the fluted sink. I haven’t been able to get any of these small pedestals lately. Always a problem in this business. The supply chain is always a challenge. Most of the drop-in sinks I use I get at Creations by Alno Inc, in Los Angeles. They bought Bates & Bates and are the only place I know of in the US who is still making sinks stateside. They are really nice and I hope they stay in business after all this Covid Crap.
I’ve done so many different items in the Scented Garden design, from Shower Stalls to tons of Accessories. And, unfortunately I have a limited supply of the flowers now. I bought up everything I could find. They used to be printed in Germany and they were of the highest quality, those are the decals I use. Unfortunately the German company got sold to one in the UK and they must not be able to see very well at the new place. The new decals look horrible. I think I have about a three-year supply of the old ones, then I don’t know what I’m going to do. I might try a custom printing of them all, at great expense to me and my business, to try to get some that I approve of. The company just writes back snarky emails saying things like “they were approved by our biggest customer”, somewhere in Eastern Europe. Woop-de-doo. I guess they can’t see either. Such a bummer!!!!!!! They are a terrible company to deal with, like communicating to a brick wall.
